Corrections Security Response Team
Applicants must be Corrections Certified Deputies and have finished their initial probation.

Security Response Team (SRT) [FCAC 13.01, 13.03]

The objective of the Security Response Team (SRT) is to preserve security by utilizing advanced tactics and weaponry to provide a safe and swift response to all security threats pertaining to the St. Johns County Detention Center. [FCAC 13.01]

The SRT responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Combative/Non-compliant inmates.
• Jail disruptions / Inmate Work Stoppage. [FCAC 13.01,b]
• Forced Cell moves / extractions, cell extractions will be conducted by on duty SRT members when available.
• Rescue or extraction of agency personnel or other victims.
• Searches/manhunts.
• Contraband control within facility.
• Perimeter security and crowd control.
• High Risk Transports/Escorts.
• Riot/Disturbance control. [FCAC 13.01, a]
• Any other situation deemed a high-risk operation.

Selection Criteria [FCAC 13.03, a]

Only those deputies with a high degree of self-discipline, integrity and professionalism will be accepted.

Applicants will be tested on the following:

• File review.
• Firearms proficiency test.
• SRT physical fitness test/stress test.
• A vote by SRT members will be conducted for all applicants meeting membership criteria. The applicant must receive a majority vote of confidence and concurrence from CORR chain of command to become a member of the SRT.
