Description

Primary Purpose

The Logistics Specialist is primarily responsible for sorting/distributing ingoing and outgoing mail, documents, and/or packages for the entire Agency.  Responsibilities consist of visits to the central and field offices, as well as any governmental office, local vendors, and/or shipping carriers (United Parcel Service, United States Postal Service, or FedEx). Collateral duties also include replenishing stock of inventory items within the Vending Machines/Lockers at various field offices located throughout the county, as well as assisting in the Central Supply warehouse. Warehouse tasks include, but are not limited to, ensuring the warehouse shelves are stocked, assisting with receiving on deliveries, and functioning as backup to the Shipping and Receiving Specialist as needed.   

Education and Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Type 25 WPM accurately
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of general office equipment

Duties

  • Coordinate and work closely with the Shipping and Receiving Specialist as necessary
  • Load, transport, unload, and deliver parcels, packages, and other deliverables daily in a safe and timely manner
  • Sort through and prepare all received agency mail to be delivered accordingly
  • Obtain signatures for registered, certified, and insured mail
  • Follow routes and exhibit time management skills to complete daily rounds
  • Maintain and manage the Mail Courier email and agency issued cell phone
  • Accountability for documents/packages obtained during daily rounds
  • Assist with the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies as needed
  • Collaborate and communicate with SJSO employees and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products
  • Ensure the Courier Vehicle is maintained by utilizing and communicating with Fleet
  • Obtain the Restock Report for the Agency’s Vending Machines through the vending machine software and ensure product availability within the vending machines/lockers by refilling the equipment bi-weekly/as needed
  • Assist with promptly processing deliveries by sorting, stocking, and distributing receivables as needed
  • Assist with tracking, tracing, and updating the status of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Ability to lift items as necessary, operate pallet jacks for large goods, and utilize other equipment (ladder, etc.) to access high points in the warehouse
  • Assist with the quarterly new hire fittings and supplying try-on stock items when requested
  • Manage a variety of competing tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Function as the backup to the Shipping and Receiving Specialist
  • Ability to operate a computer and relevant software
  • Assist with yearly Central Supply Inventory
  • Other duties as assigned
