Description

Primary Purpose

The Fingerprinting Specialist is a civilian position responsible for processing face-to-face registrations which are a requirement for several types of convicted offenders. This is an office position which interacts with members of the public who may or may not be required to schedule appointments in advance. The Fingerprinting Specialist must understand the relevant law and requirements associated with criminal registrations in order to collect the appropriate information. Additionally, this position has physical contact with members of the public for the purpose of collecting fingerprints and occasionally DNA with issued personal protective equipment.

Education and Qualification Requirement

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Type 25 WPM accurately
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • D.A.V.I.D. and FCIC/NCIC Certification, currently certified or able to obtain during probation
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of general office equipment

Duties

  • Conduct career criminal, felony, and sex offender/predator registrations
  • Fingerprint certain defendants for court and criminal registration purposes by ink/electronically
  • Fingerprint government employees and/or applicants electronically
  • Offer fingerprinting services for public licensing needs
  • Process registration information obtained during registration process in multiple databases
  • Maintain knowledge of Sex Offender/Predator laws and requirements
  • Collect payments and maintain accountability for cash drawer
  • Answer phone calls from the public, offenders, and agency personnel
  • Collect DNA from certain convicted offenders
  • Perform NCIC/FCIC checks
  • Report criminal violations of any law as directed (riots, fights, disorders, or unusual activity)
  • Disseminate certain public record information as mandated by law and policy
  • Maintain good working relationships with court system personnel
  • Type reports, correspondence, forms, and other required documents
  • File and/or retrieve reports, files, and documentation
  • Maintain office supplies
  • Call for emergency medical assistance
  • Notify designated personnel during emergency situations
  • Report fires and silence fire alarms
  • Report and document sabotage, pilferage, or security violations
  • Provide detention center with first appearance paperwork
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Process/compile/disseminate record/public record information as directed by approving authority in accordance with lawful requirements
  • Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to Staff and co-workers
  • Adhere to leave, overtime and attendance policies/procedures (i.e. arrive promptly, regular attendance at work, notification to supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents, etc.)
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
